John Bechard originally hails from Clay Center, Kansas. He studied at the University of Kansas from 1980 to 1986 (except for the 82-83 year), and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Language and Literature and French Language and Literature. He and his wife Bobsie live in London, England. Bobsie is originally from Jamaica. John works as a bookkeeper/accountant for a local Christian Fellowship in London. He likes reading books by George MacDonald, and has a long term goal of putting as many of MacDonald's books on the Internet as he possibly can. (See the Project Gutenberg web site or the Christian Classics Ethereal Library web site---search for "MacDonald").
He writes:
As far as scanning goes, it is a lot of work, but I love doing it. When I first realized what the internet was all about, I thought, "Wouldn't it be great if libraries had all their books on line and you could download a classic for the price of a phone call." Then I stumbled across sites like the Project Gutenberg, and found out that they were already busy putting books on the web. I also found that I could search and buy used books on the web. That is how I got a hold of the copy of Hutton. I know how much time I have wasted looking for books and not finding them, and it is so hard to get solid information about the Moravians. So once I had the book and realized it was public domain, I got busy, read it for myself and scanned it in. I did The Life of William Carey as well.
